Page 486. Senator LOG, \7ith a delegation fron: .Vontgonery Co, Route of road from '.'.arion to Criefiold, In Somerset Co. ATTSR RBC38S. Senator Blalr Lee, Mr. F. 0* Button, and Roads Bnglneer M. D. Knight, appeared with a delegation from Montgomery County, and a general discussion was had for more than three hours, as to the condition of the State and State Aid Roads in Montgomery County, and as to the method and policy of constructing and maintaining same. Upon motion of Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr* Goslin, it was voted, that the matter of the acceptance of the State Roads in Montgomery County be referred to a Committee, consisting of Mr* Miller, Mr* Zouok and Mr. Shirley, and that Mr. Shirley immediately go into Montgomery County, the Engineer of Montgomery County to go over with Mr. Shirley the specifications, particularly as to what must be done to put the State Roads in receivable condition, and to give the County Commissioners a specified time in which to do this work, the roads to be then turned orer to the State Roads Commiesion for maintenance ; that this Committee be empowered to make recommendations to the Commission as to the future construction of roads in Montgomery County ; and that the Chairman be relieved of any further responsibility in connection with the handling of the Montgomery County situation. Upon motion of ilr. Goslin, seconded by Mr. Ramsay, it was voted that the matter of the selection of the route of the State Road from Marion to Crlsfleld in Somerset County, be referred to a committee, consisting of Mr. V. B. Miller and Chairman Weller, with power to act. for 19IE and 1915. After careful consideration of the question of where to spend Caroline County's allotment for 19IE and 1913, and after giving due Question of where to soend weight to the respective claims of the routes from Hurlook through Caroline Go's, allotment Denton and through Preston, upon motion of Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Ramsay, it was voted that the estimated amount of $30,000 available, be expended, commencing at the terminus of the State Aid Road at the Dover Bridge, and extending toward Preston, and that the Chairman be instructed to construct said road as soon as practicable. While recognizing that a large number of the citizens of Caroline County wish to have this money spent by way of Denton, the Commission feels that the best interests of the State require that it be used in first, connecting up the main artery or trunk line of the State System on the Bastern Shore through Preston, Baston and Centreville, to Church Hill. This will leave only about 6 to 7 miles of gaps or uncompleted links to be built from the next appropriation to complete the route from Hurlook to Ohuroh Hill, whereas by way of Denton there would be about 21 miles of gaps left, which it would require a auoh
