Page 422. Questions as to Contract #0145. and other contracts • with Highway Const. Co. referred to Committee. Building of road from Mt. Holly to Vienna referred to Committee. Services of Mr. Reynolds dispensed with - Mr. Blon-dell named as bookkeeper. Acceptance of S.A.H. #828, Delegation urging the purchase of the Union Tnpk. Delegation urging the 1m-provement of Harford Rd. in Baltimore County. Upon motion of Mr. Goslin, seconded by Mr. Miller, it was voted that the matter of Contract #0145 in Allegany County with the Highway Construotion Company, and also tho proposed contract with the Highway Construotion Company for about 3 miles of road between Stations 485 and 649, and also the question of letting further contracts from Gilpin east in Allegany County, be referred to a committee consisting of Mr, Ramsay, Chief Sngineer Shirley and the Chairman, with power to act. Honorable William A. Percy of Vienna, Dorchester County, having appeared before the Board to urge the aid of the State in building the road from Mt. Holly to Vienna, it was moved by Mr. Killer, seconded by Mr. Ramsay, that the matter be referred to a committee consisting of the Governor, Mr. Miller and the Chairman, the said Committee having power to act. Moved by Mr. Ramsay, seconded by Llr. Miller, that the services of J. A. Reynolds, as bookkeeper, at a salary of $1800. per annum, be dispensed with from and after September 1, 1912, and that the Chairman be authorised to employ for said position J. A. Blondell, to take effect from August 1, 1912, at a salary of $900.00 per annum. Moved by Mr. Ramsay, seconded by Mr. Goslin, that State Aid Contract #228, knovm as the Nave's Farm Road in Allegany County, be accepted from Station 0 to station 41+. A delegation headed by Mr. TarIton B. Stabler of Sandy S prings, Montgomery County, I.Id., appeared before the Commission urging that the Union Turnpike, about 25 miles in length, be purchased, and the toll gates removed therefrom. After the hearing, and a discussion by the Board, it was moved by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Goslin, that, because of the lack of funds at present available, after completing the portion of the State System now laid out in Montgomery County, it is not possible to grant the request of the delegation at this time, and that the Chairman be instructed to so advise them. A delegation from Harford County, headed by Honorable Stevenson A. Williams of Belair, Md., appeared before the Commission, urging that the Harford Road in Baltimore County be improved so as to give a better outlet from Harford County to Baltimore, and, after a hearing, the delegation was informed by the Chairman that no funds were available for this purpose, but that an examination would be made of the section of road about one mile in length, leading from
