The Regular serai-monthly meeting of the State Roads Commission was held at its offices, in the Union Trust Building, Baltimore, Md., this Thursday, September 21st, 1911, at 10:30 A. M. Present: Governor Crothers, Chairman Tucker, Messrs. Shoemaker, and Lloyd. The minutes of the meetings of the Commission held August Slst, September 6th and 16thf wore read and approved, Liessrs. ,7alsh Bros, appeared bofore the Board stating that they wished to be relieved of Contract #216 S. A. R. in Carroll County, so that sane oould be completed by another contractor, and that the County Commissioners of Carroll County and their bondsmen, who were also present, assented to their request, provided the State Hoads Commission would approve of the assignment of the contract to another. On motion of Governor Crothers, seconded by i.lr. Shoemaker, the following resolution was unanimously adopted: "WHERSAS ffalsh Brothers have notified the State Hoads Commission of their intention to abandon the contract for State Aid work in Carroll County #216 ; and V7H3HSAS Messrs, 'ii. Frank Thomas, Joseph S. Hunter and Benjamin F. Poole have agreed to complete said contract with the exception of the concrete work now in place ; and WH3H3AS The County Commissioners of Carroll County have agreed to the above arrangement and the national Surety company, the surety on the bond of Walsh Brothers, have agreed that the County Commissioners of Carroll County, with the approval of the State Roads Commission shall enter into the said contract ; therefore BS IT HSSOLV3D that the Chairman of the State Roads Commission be, and he is hereby authorized to consummate said arrangement hereinabove set forth." On motion of Mr. Shoemaker, seconded by Governor Crothers, the following resolution was unanimously adopted: "R3SOLTT3D that the Chairman be authorized to consummate the purchase of the City end of the Baltimore and Reisterstown Turnpike at and for the sum of Seventy Thousand Dollars ($70,000) on condition that no toll-gate be erected in Baltimore County closer to Baltimore City than the present toll-gate at Pikesville, and |
