Page Petition for improvement of York Road beginning at Tows on and continuing to Western Run IPurnpike, etc. Congressman J. F. G. Talbott and I.lr. Peter ..ulcahey as spokesmen for a delegation from Baltimore County presented petitions signed by residents of said County for the improvement of the York ?!oad beginning at Towson and continuing to the ./ostern Run Turnpike. They also asked the Co;ojnission to consider the purchase of the Western P.un Pike. Chairman i'ucker stated that there will not be ample funds out of Baltimore County's present appropriation to improve the road, "but when the York Turnpike was taken over by the State, it was understood that the County would take care of it until such time as the Commission would be in a position to irr.-prove same. Dr. u» ^- Jones representing the residents of the Eastern portion of Frederick County, requested the Cormr.i:-jsion to advertise for constr -ction as soon as possible, the road between Hew .".iarlret and Hew London. Dr. Clark moved that the Cor.::;if.sion proceed to let by contract or otherwise, the road throe miles north of IIew — arket, and one and one-haIf miles couth of the piece of road constructed under the State ^id ^ct, and put in repair the r.ile already constructed under the State Aid Act, .-aking in all an improvement of about six miles. The motion was seconded by Governor Crotherf and adopted. On motion of Governor Crothers, seconded by :.Jr« Ilutton, the Chuirnan was authorised to sign and Deliver for the Con.^iF-sion to the Clarksville Turnpike Company, upon receipt of deed duly approved by Counsel, check in the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.), in payment for said pil-.o. The Chairman read a communication from the '.'.• J. Grove Lime Company, stating that temporary repairs could bo irxido to the Creek referred to Chairman and bridge over Catoctin Greek for the sum of $200. Chief SSngineer. ^ ^o^ion of i.lr. Button, seconded by -Dr. Clark, the Chairman and Chief Engineer were requested lo take charge of this matter, and if, in their judgment, repairs of a permanent character to the bridge can be :.iacle at a slight expense that same be done. Improvement of roads in Frederick County, north of New Liarket, eto. Payment for Clarksville Pike. Repair of Bridge over Catootin Assignment of D. V. Ault'on Contracts #0180 and #0183 accepted. Dr. Reins en offered the following with regard to the assignment by D. V. Ault of al] money due, oz* to become due on his contract #0180 and #0163: "E3SOLV3D, that the State Roads Commission accept the "assignment from D. 7. Ault to the Farmers and Merchants national "Bank of Baltimore, IJaryland, upon sane being approved and as-"sented to by his surety. The resolution was unanimously adopted.
