Page 275. Delegation from Howard County urging purchase of Clarks-ville Pike. Offer to County Conan'rs of Ho mar d County tov.ard purchase of ClarkBville Tnpk. Resolutions presented by Co. Oomin'rs of Montgomery County for adoption. Chairman authorized to make arrangements for purchase of stone for Darneetown Road. Surrey authorized of road west df Oaithereburg to Cedar ville Pike, stating that if the State Roads commission could sea its way clear to of for a reasonable amount toward the purchase of this pike, which extends from ^llicott City to riarksville, the citizens of Howard County would, by subscription, raise the diffarance between the amount contributed by the State and the amount asked by the Turnpike Company, and the County Commissioners v/ouid maintain this pike until such time as the commission would be in a position to improve it. "r. Cissell also stated that the County Commissioners would be willinr to purchase and maintain the Triadeljhia Pi?. Knight, Roads Engineer of Montgomery County, presented to the romnission the following resolutions for adoption: "Resolved: That the bounty Commissioners of Montgomery "County are authorized and raqu-astad, while continuing work "on the 7>arn3stown section, to take up on ths same general "tarns and conditions the following new work: "1. Trading and completing road from ^orbock to ^ockville. "2. trading and cross draining from Gaithersburg to " Hendarsun's Corner and cedar crrcve, including p-rading " west of Senoca "Brid"^ if the county relocates road " at that point. "3. To commence on macadam work at any available point " or points botwejn Gal tharsburg and Tedar crove. "That "r. Hutton of this "Board is authorized and raquasted to "continue and complete the road botweon pockville and Taithars-"burg and on the samo .general terms and conditions governing "the road there already constructed by him. "That th.3 chairman °^ t^13 ^oar^ ^a» an<^ ^e ^8 hereby authorized "to approve omsrgjncy purchases requested by the Superintendent of Roads of Montgomery County, or irr. Kutton, that can-"not be conveniently passed on by. this "^oard. "That an additional unit of r?oad "Building machinery for Mont-"gomery County is authorized to be purchased, including one "crusher, ono angina, two rollers, t-.vo v/ater wagons, scales and "accessories." Senator T,^e al.so requested the commission to negotiate with Fr. R. H. Cissell for the purchase of stone for use on the Darnsstown Road at ten cents per yard in place, and $100.00 in lieu of all damages. On motion of Dr. dark, seconded by rr. Hutton, the Chairman of the Commission wasrequasted to arran-3 with >rr. R. K. Cissall fur the purchase of such stone as is required for the Darnastown Road, ths price paid not to exceed 10 cts. per yard, measured in place, and $100.00 to cover all damages. lrr. Hutton moved that a survey be authorized of the road west of aaithersburg to Cedar Grove in Montgomery county. The motion was seconded by Governor crothars, and adopted.
