Rc.TA Page 127. Communications in regard to extension of time of contractors. Chairman instructed to take up with Co. Com'rs. matter of going on private land to drain or ditch or put in culverts. Communication regarding Williamsburg Poad. Transfer of "^ployees in Engineering Department. The Chairman read communications from the Juniata Paving Company, Harrisburg, Pa., the Rickey-Swann Company, Trenton, N. J. and Phillips & Andrews, Hurlock, T/d., regarding an extension of time on their contracts in Kent, Caroline, Charles and Dorchester counties respectively. Dr. Remsen moved that the matters be referred to the Chairman and the Chief Engineer to investigate and report to this Commission. The Chairman read a letter from !!r. H. "R. Witchell, Centreville, Ud., in regard to going in on private land to drain or ditch or put in culverts. Dr. Renisen moved that the Chairman be requested to take this matter up with the County Commissioners of Queen Anne's County, and report to the Commission. Mr. Shoemaker seconded the motion, which was adopted. The chairman read a letter from Messrs. Phillips & Andrews, of Hurlock, Md., regarding the Williamsburg Road. Dr. Remsen moved that the matter be referred to the Chairman and Chief Engineer with power. The motion was seconded by Governor Crothers, and adopted. The Chairman read a communication from the Chief Engineer, under date of September 27th, 1909, regarding the transfer of employees in the engineering department, as fo Hows: Communication of Chief Engineer. Approval of Action of Chief Engineer. "I beg to report that on September 24th we transferred H. S. Baker from the M. G. S. to the S. R. C. "as Inspector on the work in Allegany County, Contract Ho. 0140. On September 25th we transferred "A. C. Knight from the M. G. S. to the S. P. C. work "in Cecil County, Contract No. 040, to take the place "of Inspector V. W. Power, who has tendered his "resignation. The following resignations have been "received: Rodman J. H. TNirell, September 17th ; "Rodman C. R. Wilkinson, September 18th ; TJrafts-"man C. H. Wilkinson, September 18th ; Draftsman "Hugo "Flichelberg, September 19th. On September 20th "draftsman M. G. Shields was sent to St. Mary's "County, contract #021, as inspector. On September "23rd draftsman 0. 0. Sima was sent to Allegany "County, Contract #0140, as inspector. On September . "28th, instrumentman D. C. Handy will be sent to' "Baltimore County, Contract #0181, as inspector ; "draftsman Bernard Crozier will be sent to Harford "County, Contract #0171, as inspector. Chief-of-"Party Wm. H. Smith will be transferred to the "Construction Department on September 28th, for the "work of making preliminary inspections. I have "the honor to request the approval of the Board to "the actions detailed above." On motion of Dr. Remsen, seconded by Mr. Shoemaker, the Commission approved the action of the Chief Engineer as above detailed. The Chairman read a letter from Mr. Charles D.
