No. 21-A - Second Regiment, Eastern Shore Infantry Maryland Volunteers National Flag This is the national flag of the Second Regiment, Eastern Shore Infantry. The blue canton on the obverse bears the inscription, encircled by an indeterminable number of stars, "Presented to the Veterans of the 2nd E. S. Md. Vols. By the Ladies of Havre de Grace." Battle honors are painted on six of the red stripes of the obverse. The credits are Falling Waters, Piedmont, Lynchburg, Island Ford, Winchester and Berry-ville. The canton on the reverse side carries the State coat of arms. The Second Regiment, Eastern Shore Infantry, performed guard duty in the area of its origin and served along the upper Potomac River, in the Valley of Virginia and in western Virginia. No. 21-B - Second Regiment, Eastern Shore Infantry Maryland Volunteers National Flag This thirty-four star national flag long has been attributed to the Second Regiment, Eastern Shore Infantry, but its red stripes carry credits for battles in which the unit did not participate. According to the stencilled inscriptions, the flag could have been carried by any of the following: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th, or 6th Regiments, Infantry, Maryland Volunteers. The flags labeled No. 21-A and No. 21-B were presented to the State by Mrs. S. J. Seneca. No. 22-A - First Regiment, Potomac Home Brigade Cavalry Maryland Volunteers Regimental Guidon The First Regiment, Potomac Home Brigade Cavalry, carried this regimental guidon. On the obverse is the State coat of arms with numerous stencilled battle honors, while the reverse bears the national coat of arms with thirteen stars above and the designation "Cole's Md. Vol. Cavalry" on a red ribbon beneath the arms. Affixed to the spearhead is a yellow streamer carrying the name "Cole's Cavalry, Maryland Vols."
