As funding becomes available, images of the original documents from which the Archives of Maryland series was created will be placed on this site. A few representative images will be done throughout the project. The following image is from the Council of Safety Letterbook 1776, May 28 - 1776, October 11. It is transcribed in Archives of Maryland Volume 12, page 236. An image of the actual letter can be viewed in the George Washington Papers (Series 4, August 24, 1776) located on the American Memory Project website at the Library of Congress. The letterbook was used to keep track of all outgoing correspondence. At the bottom of the image can be seen the beginning of the next letter sent out by the Safety Council.
