money to us in hand paid by Thomas Terry of the City of Annapolis at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Thomas Terry his Executors administrators and assigns one negro woman named Lucinda and her child Harriet about five years of age the former to serve until the first day of January in the year eighteen hundred and fifty and the latter for life. To Have and To Hold the said Negroes unto the said Thomas Terry his Executors administrators and assign for the periods above limited. In Testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this eighth day of September in the year eighteen hundred and forty Signed Sealed & delivered Th. S. Alexander (seal) in the presence of Edward Dubois John Johnson (seal) At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this eighth day of september in the year one thousand eight and forty five personally appears the within named Thomas S. Alexander and John Johnson before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the County and State aforesaid and acknowledged the aforegoing instrument of writing to be their act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned Acknowledged before Recorded the 15.th day of sept 1845 Edward Dubois Ex d d costs 50 cts paid
