40 Holland aged forty one years whom I derived as a slave for life from my father Edward T. Iglehart. To have and to hold the said negro slave William Holland for the term of three years from the first day of January 1854 unto the said Joseph W. Tyson his executors administrators and assigns at the expiration of which term the said negro man William is to be free manumitted and discharged from slavery to me my executors administrators and assigns and from all persons claiming or to claim by through or under me or them or either of them. And him the said negro man William I do hereby declare to be then and thenceforward free and manumitted as aforesaid. In testimony whereof I do hereby set my hand and affix my seal this twenty seventh day of July eighteen hundred and fifty four. Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Nicholas E. Iglehart (seal) John S. Tyson Allen Thomas Sr. Howard County Sct. Before the subscriber a justice of the peace of Howard County personally appears Nicholas E. Iglehart and doth acknowledge the aforegoing bill of sale and manumission to be his act and deed. Acknowledged before me this twenty seventh day of July eighteen hundred and fifty four E. C. Lyons Received to be recorded on the 27th day of July 1854 at ½ past 5 o'clock P.M. same day recorded & examined per W. H. Worthington clk
of the one part and Evan Hughes of the County and state aforesaid Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and seventy five dollars in hand paid to the said M.c Lane Brown by the said Evan Hughes at and before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said Zachariah |
