in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty seven before the subscriber
a Justice of the Peace of the said State in and for the County
aforesaid personally appeared John H. M.cCartney named
in the foregoing Bill of Sale and made oath in due form of
law that the consideration in the said BIll of Sale is true
and bona fide as therein set forth

    State of Maryland Howard County to wit:
                I hereby certify that on this eighth day of June
one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven personally
appeared L. D. Jones before the subscriber a Justice of
the peace for said County and acknowledge the foregoing
bill of sale to be his act

Evan Scott brought before me the subscriber a Justice of
the peace in and for said County a dark Iron Grey Mare
about 7 or 8 years old about 14 hands high has been
worked in gears from marks visible on her a blind Bridle
on her alls                 Given under my hand

                                hereby bargain and sell unto the said William A. Webb the
                                following property to wit one Grey Horse; one black Mare
