172 Maryland do hereby acknowledge give grant bargain and sell unto the said Margaret Spears and Mary Iglehart, their executors administrators and assigns all the following property to wit the following six slaves for life Emily aged twenty nine years Ellen aged nine years Maria aged seven years Ann aged four years Henry aged three years and Wallace aged one year one clock one Bed and furniture one large Table and Carpet all of which property I consider now in the possession and belonging to my said daughters but which the law may regard as still in my possession or use. To Have and To Hold all and singular the said slaves and other property above Mentioned to the said Margaret Spears and Mary Iglehart their executors administrators and assigns as tenants in common. In witness whereof I the said Rachel Clark have hereunto set my hand and seal on this twenty second day of April eighteen hundred fifty six signed sealed & delivered her in the presence of (the Rachel x Clark (seal) words or use being first interlined) mark Samuel Nichols State of Maryland Howard County to wit It is hereby Certified that on this twenty second day of April eighteen hundred and fifty six before the subscriber a justice of the Peace of said state in and for said county personally appears Rachel Clark who is known to me as the grantor in the aforegoing bill of sale and acknowledges the same to be her act and deed and at the same time personally appears Margaret Spears and Mary Iglehart the grantees in the above bill of sale and severally Makes oath that the consideration of natural love and affection as therein set forth is true and bona fide Samuel Nichols |
