171 State of Maryland Howard county sct; Be it remembered and it is hereby certifyed that on this second day of May Eighteen hundred and fifty six before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for Howard County personally appears Humphrey C. Hill who is known to me of my own knowledge to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be the party grantor in the aforegoing deed or Instrument of writing and acknowledges the said Indenture Indenture or Instrument of writing to be his act and deed. And at the same time came John Forrest and made oath that the consideration therein set forth is true and bona fide.
