Saunders and acknowledged the above Bill of Sale to be his act and deed according to the purport true intent
& meaning of the same and the acts of Assembly in such case made & provided.  At the same time came
Levin Seward the grantee and made oath that the Consideration herein is just and true and bona fide
therein stated according to the Act of 1840.

Thomas Vickers      Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following
√      From     55      Release was received and recorded on the 31st day of December
James Vickers         in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and
                               Fifty five, to wit:
                                                          December 24th 1855 Received of Thomas Vickers
(of James) the joint and several bond of James Jones (of L) Thomas H. Hicks and
John W. Dail bearing date the 22nd day of October 1855 for One thousand and
thirty Eight dollars and seventy five cents payable to the said Thomas Vickers, which
bond assigned to me by the said Thomas Vickers I have received in full satisfaction
and discharge of a legacy of One thousand dollars given and bequeathed to me by
the last will and testament of James Vickers deceased the father of the undersigned
and the said Thomas Vickers, and which legacy by the said last will and testament
was charged upon the said Thomas Vickers to pay to me      And I do hereby release
exonerate and discharge the said Thomas Vickers from all liability to me claim
or demand or my for or on account of the said legacy.  Witness my hand and
seal the day and year above written to wit December 24th 1855

a Justice of the peace James Vickers and acknowledged the within receipt to
be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning of the same

Thomas J. Frazier      Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the
   √      From   xd       following Bill of Sale was received and recorded on the
Michael Mitchell        17th day of January 1856 to wit:
                                                    Know all men by these presents that I Michael
Mitchell of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for and in
Consideration of the Sum of Seven Hundred Dollars current money of Maryland
to me in hand paid by Thomas J. Frazier of the same County and State aforesaid
at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I
the said Michael Mitchell do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained
and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said
Thomas J. Frazier his executors administrators and assigns the following negroes
to wit:  One negro boy named Charles aged about sixteen years to serve as a
slave until the twentieth day of March Eighteen Hundred and seventy and
then to be free one negro boy named Thomas James aged about thirteen years
to serve as a slave until the twentieth day of February Eighteen Hundred and
