D. C. State of Maryland Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following √ from xd Bond was received and recorded on the 14th day of August John E. Applegarth in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and County Collector ( stamp ) Fifty five, to wit: ( six ) Know all men by these presents That we John (Dollars) E. Applegarth Richard H. Tubman George H. Meekins Levin L. Keene George Wallace and Edward C. Johnson & Mosses L. Keene of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland in the full and Just sum of Forty three thousand two hundred & eight dollars and forty cents current money of the United States to be paid to the said state or its certain attorney to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves and each of us our and each of our heirs executors and administrators jointly & severally firmly by these presents sealed with our Seals and dated this Twenty sixth day of June in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifty five. The Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden John E. Applegarth appointed Collector of Dorchester County shall well and faithfully execute his office and the Several duties required of him by law and Shall well and truly account for and pay to the County Commissioners for Dorchester County or their order the Several Sums of Money which he Shall receive or be answerable for by law at Such time as the law directs then the above obligation to be void or else to be and remain in full force and virtue in law Signed sealed & delivered in the John E.
