Hazlehurst (seal) State of Maryland City of Baltimore Sct: Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this twenty seventh day of July A. D. 1855 before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for the city of Baltimore aforesaid personally appeared Edward G. Sturgeon James Murray and Henry R. Hazlehurst they being known to me of my own knowledge to be the persons who are named and discribed as and professing to be the parties of the first part to the foregoing Indenture or assignment of Mortgage and severally acknowledged the same to be their respective act and deed ^and^ Also at the Same time before me personally appeared William H. Ross Charles Wright and William W. Dulaney the grantees in said Indenture named and made Oath according to law that the Consideration set forth in said Indenture is true and bona fide as therein set forth W.m H. Hayward State of Maryland Baltimore City Sct I hereby certify that William H. Hayward Esquire before whom the annexed acknowledgments and affidavit were made and who has thereto subscribed his name was at the time of So doing a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for the City of Baltimore duly Commissioned and Sworn. In Testimony whereof I hereto set my hand and affix the seal of the Superior court of Baltimore (Seal) City this 27th day of July A. D. 1855 Edwd Dowling clerk of the superior court of Baltimore city State of Maryland Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the √ from xd following Bond was received and recorded on the 14th John E. Applegarth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand State Collector Eight hundred & Fifty five to wit: (Stamp) Know all men by these presents that we John E. ( six ) (Dollars) Applegarth Richard H. Tubman George H. Meekins Levin L. Keene George Wallace and Edward C. Johnson & Mosses L. Keene of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland are held & firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and Just Sum of Fifteen Thousand Five Hundred and Nineteen dollars and thirty four Cents Current money of the United States to be paid to the Said State or its Certain Attorney to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves and each of us our and each of our heirs executors and administrators jointly and Severally firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals and dated this twenty sixth day of June in the year our Lord one thousand eight hundred & Fifty Five The Condition of the above obligation is Such that if the above bounden John E. Applegarth appointed Collector of the direct tax for Dorchester County Shall well and faithfully execute the office of Collector of the direct tax for Said County and the several duties required of him by law and shall well and truly account for and pay to the Treasurer of Maryland the several Sums of money which he Shall receive or be answerable for by law at Such time as the law shall direct then the above obligation to be void ^or^ else to be and remain in full |
