                                           Maryland Dorchester County, To wit:  On this
24.th day of January 1849, before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace of the
State of Maryland, in and for said County, personally appeared Noah I. Tunis
and acknowledged the above Bill of sale or instrument of writing to be his act
and deed.  Also same time appeared Moses L Keene the grantee and made Oath
on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in
the above Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth.

State of Maryland                 Be it remembered that the following Bond
Paid   Ex.d   from                  was recorded on the 7.th day of May 1849, To wit:
Geo. W. L. Smith & others   {Stamp}   Know all men by these presents that we
                                           {one dol.}  George W. L. Smith, Charles T. Smith &
James E. Douglass, of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland, are
held & firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full & just
sum of Two thousand dollars, current money of the United States, to be
paid to the said state or its certain Attorney; to the which payment
well and truly to be made & done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors
and Administrators, jointly & severally, firmly by these presents.
Sealed with our seals and dated this 7.th day of May 1849.

The Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the above
bounden George W. L. Smith shall well & truly execute the Office
of Constable, of New Market district, in all things appertaining
thereto, and shall also well & truly account for all monies placed
in his hands for Collection, and shall also well & truly pay all
sums of Money received by him, on Judgment or otherwise, then the Obligation
to be void, otherwise of full force & virtue in law.

Dorchester County, To wit:

On the 7.th day of May 1849 personally appeared before me the subscriber,
a Justice of the Peace in & for the County aforesaid, James Higgins and
James Hammersly and made the following Oath, To wit:  "we James
Higgins & James Hammersly, subscribing witnesses to the above Bond, do
make Oath that George W. L. Smith, Charles T. Smith & James E. Douglass,
obligors mentioned in the said Bond, did severally, in our presence, sign, seal
and deliver the said Bond as their Act and deed, for the purposes therein mentioned."
