149 free and by these presents do hereby release from Slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named John Wall being of the age of forty one years and able to work and gain a Sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the Said negro man named John Wall I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of Servitude or service to me my Executors or Administrators for ever In testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and affixed my seal the tenth day of January in the Year of Our Lord Eighteen Hundred and forty nine Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of us Shadrack Mitchell (Seal) James Rea Charles A. Mitchell Dorchester County Sct Be it remembered that on the tenth day of January 1849 personally appears Shadrack Mitchell party to the within instrument of Writing before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the Said County and acknowledge the Same to be an Act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all Services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the Act of Assembly in Such Case made and Provided. Acknowledged before James Rea John Farquharson Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was Recorded on the 62½ from Exd 15th day of January 1849 To wit Stanley Richardson Know all men by these presents that we Stanley Richardson Robert R. Richardson & Robt R. Richardson Exors of Nathan Richardson of Dorchester County and State of Maryland for and in consideration of the Sum of two hundred Dollars Current Money to me in hand paid by John D Farquaharson of Dorchester County and State of Maryland have granted bargained and Sold and by these presents do Grant bargain and Sell unto the said John D Farquharson his heirs and assigns negro man Joseph or Josiah Wiggins to serve fourteen years and five months from the first day of January Eighteen Hundred and forty nine Slave for terms of years afsd and Sound in ^Body &^ Mind. To Have and To Hold the said Negro man Joseph or Josias Higgins for the term of fourteen years and five Months as aforesaid from January 1 last 1849 as above bargained and Sold unto the said John D Farquharson his heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns against us the said Stanley Richardson & Robert R. Richardson Exor our heirs executors and Administrators and Against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and warrant and forever defend In testimony Whereof We Stanley & R. R. Richardson & Jno D Farquharson have hereto set our hands and affixed Seals this thirteenth day of January Eighteen Hundred and forty nine Signed Sealed and delivered Stanley Richardson (Seal) in the presence of for Self and Robert R. Richardson (Seal) James Hammersly Jno D Farquharson (Seal) Maryland Dorchester County to wit.
