116. and Acknowledge the within Mortgage to be his act & deed according to the Act of Assembly in such case made & provided and at the same time came before me, the said Justice, John A. Scott, the Mortgagee within named, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the Consideration set forth in this Mortgage Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth, according to the Act of Assembly. Acknowledged before me William E. M. Frazier Recorded July 12th 1848, To wit: Major Bowley Know all men by these presents that we Richard 70 from Ex.d Bowley and John Bowley of Dorchester County and State Richard Bowley & of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of John Bowley one hundred dollars, current money, to us in hand paid by Major Bowley of said County, at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged, We the said Richard Bowley and John Bowley have granted, bargained, sold, conveyed and transfered, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, convey and transfer unto the said Major Bowley, his heirs & Assigns forever, the following property, To wit: one sixth of the vessel now on the stocks at the Straw Mill wharf in Cambridge and being built by the said Major Bowley, Richard Bowley & John Bowley, 1 Bureau, 1 Desk, 2 Beds Bedsteads & furniture 1 dozen Chairs and all the residue of the House hold and kitchen furniture and personal property of the said Major Bowley & which was conveyed by the said Major Bowley to the said Richard Bowley and John Bowley by Bill of sale recorded in Liber W. J. N.o 3 folio 61 as will more fully appear by reference thereto, to the only proper use and behoof of the said Major Bowley, his heirs and Assigns forever. To have and to hold the said above described property unto the said Major Bowley, his heirs and Assigns forever, against us and our heirs and against all persons whatever, to the only proper use of the said Major Bowley, his heirs and Assigns forever. In Witness whereof the said Richard Bowley and John Bowley have hereto set their hands and seals this 12.th day of July 1848. Richard Bowley (Seal) Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of his Charles Corkran John x Bowley (Seal) Maryland, Dorchester County fs. On this 12.th day of July 1848, personally appears Richard Bowley and John Bowley, before the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace for the County and state aforesaid and acknowledged the within and aforegoing Bill of sale to be their Act and deed, and delivered the same for the uses and purposes therein mentioned, according to the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided: And Major Bowley the party |
