Preamble

WHEREAS, The purpose of the Maryland Program Evaluation Act
is to provide a system of periodic legislative review of
regulatory, licensing, and other governmental activities of the
Executive Branch of State government; and

WHEREAS, A legislative review has indicated that the Health
Resources Planning Commission is not subject to the Maryland
Program Evaluation Act; and

WHEREAS, It is desirable to subject the activities of the
Health Resources Planning Commission to review to determine
whether it is necessary for the public interest and to make the
Commission accountable and responsive to the public interest; and

WHEREAS, Therefore, it is recommended that the Health
Resources Planning Commission be subject to review under the
Maryland Program Evaluation Act and that its date for completed
evaluation be consistent with dates assigned to other related
governmental units or activities that are subject to the Maryland
Program Evaluation Act; now, therefore,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
