(7) THE PROCEEDS OF THE LOAN MUST BE EXPENDED OR ENCUMBERED BY
THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS FOR THE PURPOSES PROVIDED IN THIS ACT NO LATER
THAN JUNE 1, 2006. IF ANY FUNDS AUTHORIZED BY THIS ACT REMAIN UNEXPENDED
OR UNENCUMBERED AFTER JUNE 1, 2006, THE AMOUNT OF THE UNENCUMBERED OR
UNEXPENDED AUTHORIZATION SHALL BE CANCELED AND BE OF NO FURTHER
EFFECT. IF BONDS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR THE LOAN, THE AMOUNT OF
UNEXPENDED OR UNENCUMBERED BOND PROCEEDS SHALL BE DISPOSED OF AS
PROVIDED IN § 8-129 OF THE STATE FINANCE AND PROCUREMENT ARTICLE.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 2005.

Dear Mr. Speaker:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have
vetoed House Bill 1580 - Baltimore City - Maryland Historical Society Loan of 1997.
This bill amends the Baltimore City - Maryland Historical Society Loan of 1997, as
amended by Chapter 183 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 2000, to require that
the loan proceeds be encumbered by the Board of Public Works or expended for the
purpose provided in the Act by June 1, 2006.
Senate Bill 337, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me,
accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House
Bill 1580.

AN ACT concerning
Baltimore City - Maryland Historical Society Loan of 1997
FOR the purpose of amending the Baltimore City - Maryland Historical Society Loan
of 1997, as amended by Chapter 183 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 2000,
to require that the loan proceeds be encumbered by the Board of Public Works or
expended for the purpose provided in the Act by a certain date; and generally
relating to the Baltimore City - Maryland Historical Society Loan of 1997.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Chapter 290 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1997, as amended by
