HARRY HUGHES, Governor                                        2293 RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
Department of Natural Resources is requested to study the
problems related to MSX on the oyster population in the waters of
this State and to recommend any solution to alleviate these
problems and revitalize the oyster industry in this State; and be
it further RESOLVED, That the Department of Natural Resources used all
of the scientific and technical resources available to the State
to study this problem; and be it further RESOLVED, That the State of Maryland, through appropriate
officials, requests the full assistance of the National Marine
Fisheries Service, and joins with the Commonwealth of Virginia to
assess the full impact of the present disease epizootic; and be
it further RESOLVED, That the Department of Natural Resources report
its conclusions to the General Assembly by December 1, 1983; and
be it further RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to the
Honorable Harry Hughes, Governor of the State of Maryland, and
the Honorable Louis N. Phipps, Jr., Acting Torrey C. Brown,
Secretary of Natural Resources, Tawes State Office Building, 580
Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, Maryland 21401. Signed May 10, 1983. No. 22 (House Joint Resolution No. 31) A House Joint Resolution concerning A Vietnam War Memorial FOR the purpose of requesting the Governor to establish a
commission to develop recommendations for the creation of a
Vietnam War memorial to honor those Marylanders who were
killed or missing in action during that conflict. WHEREAS, All citizens of the State of Maryland wish to pay
long overdue recognition and special tribute to those who served
in the Armed Forces of the United States during our nation's
longest conflict, the Vietnam War; and WHEREAS, Nearly 200,000 Marylanders served our country
during that war, 1,004 gave their lives, and 38 are still listed
as missing in action; and
