recommendations to the Governor and the General Assembly no later
than January 1, 1984; and be it further RESOLVED, That staff support be provided by the Department
of Economic and Community Development; and be it further RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be forwarded to the

Street, Annapolis, Maryland 21404. Signed May 10, 1983. No. 21 (House Joint Resolution No. 30) A House Joint Resolution concerning Oysters - Study of MSX Problem FOR the purpose of requesting the Department of Natural Resources
to study the problems related to MSX on the oyster
population in the waters of the State and recommend certain
solutions to alleviate these problems. Preamble WHEREAS, The oyster population in the waters of this State
provides a livelihood to oystermen in this State and is a
valuable source of food that is enjoyed in this and other states;
and WHEREAS, The infestation of the disease MSX in the oyster
population may kill tremendous numbers of oysters, thereby
causing economic hardships that threaten the future existence of
the oyster industry in this State; and WHEREAS, Very few people know anything about MSX or how to
control it, and a study would be helpful to understand fully the
effect of MSX on the oyster populations in the waters of the
State and its impact on the oyster industry in this State; now,
therefore, be it
