shall take effect July 1, 1978.

AN ACT concerning

Barbers — Reciprocal Licensure

FOR the purpose of changing the requirements for reciprocal
licensure as for a master barber licensed in a state
with similar licensing requirements as Maryland.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 43 - Health

Section 320(b)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1971 Replacement Volume and 1977 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 43 - Health

320.

(b) An applicant for a master barber's license
[must pass a master barber's examination], prior to the
issuance of a reciprocal license[.], SHALL .HOWEVER, A
PERSON LICENSED IN A STATE HAVING SIMILAR LICENSING
REQUIREMENTS AS MARYLAND MAY BE LICENSED WITHOUT EXAMINATION
IF HE;

(1)    HAVE HAS BEEN LICENSED ACTIVELY AS A
PRACTICING, REGISTERED OR MASTER BARBER FOR THE LAST TWO
CALENDAR YEARS IN THAT STATE AND PROVIDE PROVIDES TO THE
BOARD A NOTARIZED STATEMENT OF A PREVIOUS EMPLOYER ATTESTING
TO THIS EXPERIENCE;

(2)    SUBMIT SUBMITS A LETTER FROM HIS CURRENT
BARBER LICENSING BOARD VERIFYING THAT THE APPLICANT IS IN
GOOD STANDING WITH THE BOARD; AND

(3)    CERTIFY CERTIFIES, IN WRITING, THAT THE
APPLICANT HE HAS READ, UNDERSTANDS, AND WILL COMPLY WITH THE
RULES AND REGULATIONS AND LAWS OF THIS STATE RELATING TO
PRACTICE OF BARBERING.
