MARVIN MANDEL, Governor                       3835 Marvin Mandel
Governor
---------
Senate Bill No. 894 - Patuxent River - Watershed Area AN ACT concerning Patuxent River Watershed Area - Use of Federal Funds FOR the purpose of requiring the Department of Health and
Mental Hygiene to appropriate certain federal funds
for use in upgrading and floodproofing of existing
sewerage systems and facilities in the Patuxent
River watershed area before the funds nay be
appropriated for use in constructing new systems or
facilities; defining certain terms; and specifying
certain exceptions. May 26, 1977
Honorable Steny H. Hoyer
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404 Dear Mr. President: In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 894. This bill requires the use of certain federal funds
by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to upgrade
and floodproof certain sewerage units in the Patuxent
River watershed area before use to construct new systems. House Bill 1981, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by Lieutenant Governor Blair Lee III
in his capacity as Acting Governor on May 26, 1977,
provides for a similar allocation of funds subject to
certain conditions. Since House Bill 1981 accomplishes the same purpose,
it is unnecessary for me to sign Senate Bill 894.
Sincerely,
Marvin Mandel
Governor
