AN ACT concerning
Public Education - Approved Nonpublic School Placement
Special Educational Services - Financial Aid

FOR the purpose of specifying a certain amount to be paid
by the counties for special educational placements
in nonpublic programs.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 106G-3(d)(1) of Article 77 -
Public Education, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1975
Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
Article 77 - Public Education
106G-3.
(d) The State and the counties shall,
collectively, share in the cost of educating handicapped
children in nonpublic programs as set forth in § 106D(g)
on the following basis:
(1) For each such child domiciled in the
county, the county shall contribute the LOCAL SHARE OF
THE basic cost, as required, under [§] SECTION 106G-3 (b)
[of this article], plus an additional amount equal to 200
percent of the basic cost, but not more than the amount
of cost or reimbursement approved by the State Department
of Education. This contribution shall be made from the
fund created by the State and local contributions to the
excess cost program pursuant to subsection (c) [of this
section].
