270 Ex.d & Dld P.d This Indenture made the sixth Day of December seventeen hundred and eighty four Between Nicholas Maccubbin of the City of Annapolis Merchant of the one Prat and Charles Ridgely of Baltimore County Planter of the other Part Whereas a certain Henry Bennett Darnall of Baltimore County in the then Province of Maryland Gentleman did for and in Consideration of the sum of five hundred Pounds Sterling Money of Great Britain to the said Henry Bennett Darnall in hand Paid grant bargain and sell alien enfeoff and confirm unto him the said Nicholas Maccubbin his Heirs and Assigns forever all that one Thousand Acres of Land being one Moiety of a Tract or Parcel of Land called the Land or Promise lying in Baltimore County aforesaid and upon the Head of Gunpowder River and upon the North side of ^the^ South Branch of the said River and is butted and bounded as followeth Viz Beginning at a Bounded red Oak standing by the said Branch and running North three hundred Perches to a Spanish Oak on a Ridge then running North North East four hundred and twenty Perches to a Bounded red Oak being the first bounded tree of a Manor of Land belonging to the right Honorable the Lord Baltimore and running thence North fifty one and a half degrees West two hundred and fifty nine Perches to a Stone now fixed for the Beginning of his Brothers Nicholas Lowe Darnalls Part of the said Land and Division line of the said Land Btween him and his said Brother Nicholas Lowe Darnall and running thence South forty two Degrees and One Quarter West six hundred and seventy Perches to the given Line of the Original Tract of Land then with a strait Line to the first Mentioned Tree laid out for and computed to be One thousand Acres of Land more or less also one Negro Man named Peter aged about thirty two Years one Negro Man named John aged thirty seven Years one Negro man named George aged twenty six Years One Negro Man named Tom aged nineteen Years one Negro Lad named Ben aged thirteen Years one Negro boy named Peter aged nine Years one Negro boy named James aged nine Years one Negro Woman named Sue aged thirty six Years one Negro Woman named Peggy aged twenty four Years One Negro Woman named Sue aged nineteen Years one Negro Girl named Sall aged twelve Years One Negro Girl named Grace aged ten Years one Negro Girl named Sue aged nine Years one Negro Girl named Moll aged five Years one Negro Girl aged four Years named Clare one Negro Girl named Peggy aged there Years one Negro Girl named Nell aged three Years with their Increases subject Nevertheless to the following Proviso and it was the true Intent and Meaning of the aforesaid ^presents^ that if the said Henry Bennett Darnall his Heirs Executors or Administrators should well and truly pay unto him the said Nicholas Maccubbin his Executors Administrators or Assigns the said sum of five hundred Pounds Sterling Money of Great Britain in London Bills of Exchange at thirty Days and the Costs and Charges of drawing and recording the said Mortgage also any other sum or sums of Money that should thereafter ^be^ advanced by the said Nicholas Maccubbin to the said Henry Bennett Darnall or to his Order at the Dwelling House of the said Nicholas Maccubbin in the City aforesaid with the Lawfull Interest thereof at or before the fifth Day of December then next ensuing that then the aforesaid Presents were to have been void and of none Effect otherwise to be and remain in full force which said (Deed) |
