       This Indenture made the fifteenth Day of July
Vide the               Anno Dom One Thousand Seven hundred and twenty three Between
Defeazance          John Baker of S.t Marys County in the Province of Maryland Gentl
to this Mortgage   of the one part and Vachel Denton of the City of Annapolis in
record.d               the Same Province of the other part Wittnesseth that the said
in Lib E I              John Baker for and in consideration of the Sum of twelve Thousand
N.o 3 fol 97         Seven hundred and Seventy three pounds of Tobacco and three pounds
       twelve shillings Curr.t Money of Maryland to him in hand paid at &
       before the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof
       He doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and every part and pcell
       thereof Doth Acquit Exonerate and for ever Discharge the said
       Vachel Denton his Heirs Ex.rs Adm.rs and assigns by these psents
       for ever Hath given granted aliened Bargained Sold Enfeoffed
       Confirmed and made over And by these presents Doth give
       grant alien bargain Sell Enfeoffe Confirm and Make Over
       unto the said Vachel Denton his Heirs Ex.rs & Adm.rs two feather
       Beds two Ruggs two pair sheets two pair of blanketts two
       pair of curtains and vallens one English Oake Desk or
       escritoire one large English Oak Table one smaller Table Six
       English flagg chairs Six pewter Dishes two Doz.n pewter plates
       one Dozen of Diaper Napkins one Diaper Table Cloath one Serv.t
       Boy Names Thomas Hudson haveing about three years to serve
       one Negro Man Named Jeremy three cows and calves one Grey
       horse called Brandy branded on the Near Buttock thus ◊ One
       other grey horse called Claton branded on the Near Buttock thus
       ... one black Mare and colt twenty hoggs young and old
       one Bay horse called Smoaker three new silver spoons and
       four pewter basons To have and to hold the Severall Goods
       and Chattells aforementioned unto him the said Vachel Denton
       his Heirs Ex.rs and Adm.rs from him the said John Baker his heirs
       ex.rs adm.rs or assigns and the said John Baker Doth by these
       presents for himself his Heirs Ex.rs and Adm.rs covenant
       promise grant and agree to and with the said Vachel Denton his
       hers and assigns that he the said John Baker at the time of Ensealing
       and Delivery hereof is lawfully and Rightfully possest
       of the Severall Goods and Chattells af.d as of his own proper
