1972 Supplement), title "Health," subtitle "State Board of Veterinary Examiners,"
be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments; and that
Sections 152 C and 153(b) of the same Article, title and subtitle, be and they are
hereby repealed; and all to read as follows:

150.

(a)  The State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners is [hereby] created. The
[said] Board shall consist of five members who shall be licensed veterinarians of
this State, SHALL BE RESIDENTS OF THIS STATE [[FOR FIVE
YEARS]], SHALL HAVE BEEN AT SOME TIME IN ACTIVE PRACTICE
FOR FIVE YEARS, SHALL BE IN GOOD STANDING AND SHALL BE
APPOINTED AND QUALIFIED, land in active practice in this State for five
years, and in good standing and who shall be appointed and qualified, but of those
first appointed, one shall be for a term of one year, one for two years, one for
three years, one for four years and one for five years, from June 1, 1949.]

(b)   The Governor shall appoint the members of the Board [[[]]upon the
recommendation of the Secretary of Agriculture[[]]]. Each appointment on the
Board shall be made from a list of at least three names for each vacancy submitted
to the Governor or to the Governor-elect [and to the Secretary of Agriculture], by
the Maryland [State] Veterinary Medical Association.

Recommendations shall be by vote of a majority present at some regular or
special meeting of the Association membership and shall be certified to the
Governor by the president and secretary of the Association.

The Governor shall notify the Association promptly of any vacancy other than
by expiration and like nominations may be made for the filling of the vacancy.

(c)  Terms shall continue after July 31, [1963,] 1973, as constituted on that date,
with each member serving for the remainder of the [time] TERM for which
elected, and [,] shall serve for a term of five years [and] or until their successors
are elected and qualified. Present members shall complete terms to which they
were previously appointed.

Limitations of terms:

1.   No member shall be eligible to serve for or during more than two full
successive terms EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED FOR IN THIS
SECTION.

2.   Ceasing to legally and physically reside in State vacates office. If any
member of Board ceases to reside in this State, his office shall be deemed vacant.

(d)   Any member of the Board shall be removed by the Governor, upon
recommendation of [either the Secretary of Agriculture or] the Maryland [State]
Veterinary Medical Association [,] FOR MISCONDUCT IN OFFICE,
INCOMPETENCE, IMMORALITY, WILLFUL NEGLECT OF DUTY, OR
ANY CAUSE WHICH IS A GROUND FOR REVOCATION OF A LICENSE
TO PRACTICE VETERINARY MEDICINE IN THIS STATE AFTER
REASONABLE NOTICE AND AN OPPORTUNITY FOR HEARING HAS
BEEN PROVIDED, [for malfeasance, misfeasance, or nonfeasance after hearing
as provided in §§ 152 to 156 inclusive, or if the license of such member has been
revoked on any ground set forth in § 156.]

(E) THE BOARD SHALL MAINTAIN AN OFFICE WITHIN THE
STATE AND SHALL HAVE A TELEPHONE NUMBER LISTED FOR USE
BY THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
