Whereas, The General Assembly believes we can do no less for the
unemployed Vietnam veteran; now, therefore, be it
Resolved,, by the General Assembly of Maryland, that the Con-
gress of the United States is strongly urged to enact H.R. 7834
which guarantees an unemployed Vietnam veteran a benefit of $75
per week for a maximum of 52 weeks, and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this Resolution be sent to the Senate
and House of Representatives of the United States by the Secre-
tary of the Senate.

Senate Joint Resolution requesting the President of the Senate and
the Speaker of the House to appoint a joint committee composed
of members of the Senate and the House of Delegates LEGISLA-
TIVE COUNCIL, BY ITS APPROPRIATE COMMITTEE to re-
view all exemptions permitted under the State Retail Sales Tax
Law and to report their THE findings and recommendations to the
Legislative Council el Maryland. GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
Whereas, The Maryland Retail Sales Tax Act permits many sales
tax exemptions under Section 326 of Article 81 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland; and
Whereas, Many of these exemptions may be inequitable or out-
dated; and
Whereas, An example of the confusing status of some exemp-
tions is the different treatment given to the sale of meals, food or
drinks depending upon the place of consumption; and
Whereas, A thorough study of the sales tax exemptions would
serve to clear up any possible inequities; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Presi-
dent of the Senate and the Speaker of the House are hereby re-
quested to appoint a joint committee to review LEGISLATIVE
COUNCIL IS HEREBY REQUESTED TO REVIEW, BY THE
APPROPRIATE COMMITTEE OF THE COUNCIL, all sales tax
exemptions, and to report their THE findings and recommendations
to the Legislative Council of Maryland; GENERAL ASSEMBLY;
and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this Resolution be sent to the Honorable
William S. James, President of the Senate, and to the Honorable
Thomas Hunter Lowe, Speaker of the House.
