ployees' Retirement System of the State of Maryland, and the Board
of Trustees of the State Police Retirement System of the State of
Maryland in 1964 requested the consulting actuary for the systems to
make a comprehensive survey of the benefits provided in comparison
with the provisions of systems in other states; and
Whereas, Under date of April 24, 1964, the actuary reported his
findings to the Boards; and
Whereas, Since 1964, the General Assembly has made numerous
changes in the statutes under which the retirement systems operate,
and benefits have been considerably improved; and
Whereas, The survey of 1964 has not been updated since that
year; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Board
of Trustees of the Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Mary-
land, the Board of Trustees of the Employees' Retirement System of
the State of Maryland, and the Board of Trustees of the State Police
Retirement System of the State of Maryland are requested to have
their consulting actuary review again the provisions for the three
systems and to bring the 1964 reports up to date; and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this Resolution be forwarded to the Sec-
retary of the three Boards of Trustees of the Retirement Systems.

Senate Joint Resolution urging the Congress of the United States to
enact H.R. 7834 to provide increased unemployment benefits for
Vietnam Era Veterans.
Whereas, the problem of unemployment among returning Vietnam
veterans of the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air
Force has been increasingly acute affecting the welfare of the
citizens of these United States and the State of Maryland; and
Whereas, The problem of unemployed Vietnam veterans trans-
cends State boundaries and capabilities making it appropriate for
Federal legislation; and
Whereas, Legislation was enacted after World War II and the
Korean War to guarantee unemployed veterans a minimum unemploy-
ment compensation benefit while they sought work; and
Whereas, The Vietnam veteran has served his country as well as
his brothers in World War II and Korea while returning home to
face a recalcitrant economy; and
