GATE OR LIMIT ANY RIGHTS GIVEN IN ANY OTHER SEC-
TION OF THE LAW.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 440 of
Article 23 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Cumulative
Supplement), title "Corporations," subtitle "III. Particular Classes
of Corporations," subheading "Professional Service Corporation
Act," to permit certain professional service corporations having
five or more shareholders to adopt a corporate name which does
not contain the name of one of its shareholders upon the approval
of THE MARYLAND STATE BAR ASSOCIATION, THE MEDI-
CAL AND CHIRURGICAL FACULTY, THE MARYLAND
STATE DENTAL ASSOCIATION, OR the board, agency, or
other entity licensing or otherwise legally authorizing the profes-
sional services rendered by the corporation and upon approval of
certain professional organizations, and hereby authorizing such
approval and the adoption of such rules and regulations as may
be necessary hereunder.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 440 of Article 23 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1970 Cumulative Supplement), title "Corporations," subtitle "III.
Particular Classes of Corporations," subheading "Professional Ser-
vice Corporation Act," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
440.
(a) The corporate name of the corporation organized under this
subtitle shall contain the last names of some or all of the share-
holders and shall also contain the word "chartered" or "professional
association" or the abbreviation "P.A.". The use of the words "com-
pany," "corporation" or "incorporated" or any other word, abbrevia-
tion, affix or prefix indicating that it is a corporation in the corporate
name of a corporation organized under this subtitle, other than the
words "chartered" or "professional association" or the abbreviation
"P.A." is specifically prohibited. A corporation may render pro-
fessional services and exercise its authorized powers under a name
which is identical to its corporate name except that the words
