CHAPTER 590
(House Bill 419)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 38(b)
of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "Local Li-
censes and License Provisions," to provide that in the City of
Hyattsville it shall be lawful to sell liquor on sale and for consump-
tion on the licensed premises only of a Class B license.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 38(b) of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Replacement Volume), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle
"Local Licenses and License Provisions," be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and to read as follows:

38.

(b) Hyattsville.—It shall not be lawful for any person or
persons or body corporate to sell directly or indirectly at any
place within the corporate limits of the Town of Hyattsville,
or to give away at any place of business therein, any alcoholic
beverages or any intoxicating drinks of any kind other than beer
[and], light wine and on sale liquor, said liquor being only for
consumption on the immediate premises of a Class B license.
The
board of license commissioners for Prince George's County shall not
approve the application for any license, and the clerk shall not
issue any license, for the sale of any alcoholic beverages or intoxi-
cating drinks of any kind, within the limits of the Town of Hyatts-
ville, other than beer [and], light wine and on sale liquor, said
liquor being only for consumption on the immediate premises of a
Class B license.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted,, That this Act is hereby declared
to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and safety and having been passed
by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two houses of the General Assembly, the
same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 53(1) of
Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement
Volume and 1969 Supplement), title "Alcoholic Beverages," sub-
title "General Provisions on Issue of Licenses," subheading "Prince
George's County—Generally," to increase by three (3) SIX (6)
the Class C Beer, wine and liquor licenses pertaining to veterans
organizations under Section 20(K) (1) and to increase by one (1)
THREE (3) SIX (6) the number of Class B Beer, wine and liquor
