(b) An agent or broker duly licensed by any other state, residing
outside of this State, may not enter this State for the purpose of
transacting business without obtaining a license. He may, [however]
after obtaining such a license, negotiate any contract of insurance
upon subjects of insurance resident, located, or to be performed in
this State to the same extent and upon the same terms and upon
payment of the same fees as are required by such other state from
residents of this State transacting a like business in such other state.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

CHAPTER 182
(Senate Bill 247)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 307 of
Article 48A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Insurance Code," subtitle "Fraternal Benefit
Societies," eliminating therefrom any reference to the amount of
the fee to be charged for the issuance or renewal of a certificate
of authority but referring generally to the provisions of Section 41.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 307 of Article 48A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Replacement Volume), title "Insurance Code," subtitle "Fra-
ternal Benefit Societies," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

307.

The certificate of authority of existing societies and all societies
hereafter authorized may be renewed annually, but in all cases to
terminate on the 30th day of June. [For each such certificate of
authority or renewal the society shall pay the Commissioner ten
dollars ($10).] Upon payment of the [said] fee for renewal pro-
vided for in Section 41
before the expiration date of a certificate of
authority the same shall remain in effect until a new certificate of
authority is issued or specifically refused.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.
