The said bill was then sent to the Senate.

Mr. Valiant moved the House adjourn,
Which was determined in the negative.

A bill, entitled an act to authorize the devise and bequest of
Margaret A. Ward to the trustees of the Methodist Episcopal
Church at Kingston and Merumsco, in Somerset county,

On motion of Mr. Hall,

The further reading of the bill was postponed till Thursday, the
8th of February.

On motion of Mr. Reichard,           

The House adjourned                                                     

WEDNESDAY, January 30th, 1856.

The House met. Present at the call of the roll the following

members:

Lawson, Daniel, Frazier, Thomas, Stubbs, Miller, Brooke, Bowie,
Goldsborough, Parker, Smith, of Worcester, Davis, Carper,
Grove, Hauver, Wolfe, Duvall, Jarrett, Silver, Stack, Partridge,
Smith, of Baltimore City, Abbott, Valiant, Lester, Askew, Har-
rington, Fiery, Witmer, Reichard, Loughridge, Corby, Harding,
Hall, Tower, Wickes, Brown, Smith, of Carroll, Buffington,
Stewart, Rowles.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The Hon. Lewis P. Fiery, by appointment of the Speaker, took
the chair as Speaker pro tem.

Mr. Bowie presented a petition of citizens of Prince George's
and Anne Arundel counties for rebuilding a bridge over the Pa-
tuxent river, known as the Priest Bridge;

Which was referred to the Prince George's and Anne Arundel
county delegation.
