forward a copy of these resolutions to each of the six mem-
bers of Congress, in the House of Representatives, from
Maryland.

On motion of Mr. Holmead, two third of all the Senators

voting in the affirmative, the rules were suspended by yeas and

nays as follows, and the resolution was placed upon its second

reading, without reference to a committee:

HOUSE BILLS—FIRST READING.

The President distributed the following message from the
House of Delegates, being House Bill No. 158, entitled "An
Act to enable the registered and qualified voters of Washing-
ton county to determine by ballot whether or not spirituous,
fermented, malt, vinous, alcoholic or intoxicating liquors shall
be bartered or sold, given away or otherwise disposed of in
Washington county; providing for the resubmission of said
question to the registered and qualified voters of said county
at any time after the expiration of forty-two (42) months from
the date of an election on this question, and providing pen-
alties for the violation of the provisions of this Act, and sus-
pending the operation of any laws or parts of laws inconsis-
tent with the provisions of this Act. " [Endorsed: "Read the
third time and passed by yeas and nays. "] [Which was read
the first time and referred to the Committee on Temperance. ']

Also House Bill No. 95, entitled "An Act to repeal Chapter
831 of the Laws of Maryland, passed at the session of the
General Assembly of 1014, entitled 'An Act regulating the
shipment, transportation, delivery, carrying, bringing into,
handling and distributing of spirituous, vinous, fermented,
malt or intoxicating liquors or any mixture thereof contain-
ing alcohol, for beverage purposes, in Caroline, Queen Anne's
Talbot, Dorchester, Somerset, Worcester, Kent, Cecil and Wi-
