HOUSE BILLS—FIRST READING.

The President distributed the following message from the
House of Delegates: House Bill No. 169, entitled "An Act to
repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 106-A, 106-B,
106-C and 106-D of Article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, title 'Cecil County, ' sub-title 'County Commis-
sioners, ' as enacted by Chapter 387 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland of 1894, Chapter 625 of the Acts of
1908, Chapter 6 of the Acts of 1910, Chapter 150 of the Acts
of 1910 and Chapter 538 of the Acts of 1914. " [Endorsed:
"Read the third time and passed by yeas and nays"] [Which
was read the first time and referred to Senators Williams,
Cooper and Archer. ]

Also House Bill No. 57, entitled "An Act to repeal and re-
enact, with amendments, Section 335 of Article 27 of the
Code of Public General Laws of 1904, title 'Crimes and Punish-
ments, ' sub-title 'Murder. '" [Endorsed: "Read the third time
and passed by yeas and nays"] [Which was read the first
time and referred to the Committee on Judicial Proceedings. ]

Also House Bill No. 96, entitled "An Act to repeal Chapter
580 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1914,
entitled 'An Act to prohibit any minister of the Gospel or
other person in Garrett county, who is now or may hereafter
be authorized under the law of Maryland, to perform the
marriage ceremony, to give, directly or indirectly, any fee
as an inducement to any person to bring the person contem-
plating marriage to him to perform the marriage ceremony. '"
[Endorsed: "Read the third time and passed by yeas and
nays. "] [Which was read the first time and referred to the
Committee on Judicial Proceedings. ]

Also House Bill No. 5, entitled "An Act providing for the
appointment or employment of honorably discharged soldiers,
sailors or marines, citizens of Maryland, in every public de-
partment and upon, all public works of the State of Maryland. "
[Endorsed: "Read the third time and passed by yeas and
nays. "] [Which was read the first time and referred to the
Committee on Judicial Proceedings. ]

Also House Bill No. 70, entitled "An Act to repeal and re-
enact, with amendments, Section 20 of Article 99 of the Code
of Public General Laws of Maryland, title 'Wild Fowl, Birds
