712                              Laws of Maryland                       [Ch. 551

ESTABLISHMENT OF A DOG POUND TO SERVE ALL OF
SUCH COUNTIES.

Any person may kill any dog which he sees in the act of
pursuing, attacking, wounding or killing any poultry or livestock,
or attacking human beings whether or not such dog bears the proper
license tag required by this subtitle. There shall be no liability on
such persons in damages or otherwise for such killing.

115.    Any dog found running at large without the proper license
tag attached in accordance with the provisions of this sub-title is
hereby declared a nuisance and is subject to seizure, detention and
destruction. The dog warden or his duly authorized deputies are
authorized and directed, whenever possible, to seize and impound
any dog found running at large without the proper license tag at-
tached thereto. When the dog warden or his duly authorized deputies
are not able to catch a dog running at large without a license tag, they
are authorized and directed to shoot or otherwise kill the dog.

116.    All dogs seized and impounded under Section 115 shall be
held for the owner thereof for a period of seventy-two (72) hours.
During this period any dog seized under the provisions of Section 115
shall be released to the owner, or his duly authorized representative,
upon satisfactory proof of ownership, tender of a fee, in such amount
as the County Commissioners shall determine, for the costs of seizure
and impounding, and upon presentation of the license for the dog
as prescribed in Section 109.

117.    Any owner not redeeming his dog within seventy-two (72)
hours under the provisions of Section 116, shall be deemed to have
forfeited all rights of ownership and the dog shall be deemed the
property of Calvert County. The dog shall remain impounded for
additional forty-eight (48) hours, during which time any person
desiring, may obtain ownership of the dog by tendering the fee for
the costs of seizure and impounding and by purchasing a license as
required by Section 109.

118.    Any dog seized as aforesaid and not redeemed within one
hundred and twenty (120) hours from time of seizure, shall be killed
by the dog warden or one of his duly authorized deputies in the most
humane manner possible.

119.    All funds derived from the issuance of licenses as aforesaid
and all funds received in the form of fees from seizure and impound-
ing of dogs as aforesaid shall be turned over to the County Treasurer
not less than once each month and shall become a part of the general
funds of the County.

120.    Whenever the County Commissioners of Calvert County are
of the opinion that the health, welfare and safety of the citizens of
Calvert County require, the Commissioners may by resolution pro-
vide for quarantine of all dogs, and they may make such further rules
and regulations concerning dogs as they may deem necessary.

121.    The County Commissioners of Calvert County shall have the
power in their discretion to make from time to time all necessary
rules and regulations for the sale of dog licenses, the keeping of
