rig may be equipped with not more than one blade and one water
manifold, the width between the exterior jets thereon not to exceed
thirty-six (36) inches. The water jet pipe at each end of the manifold
shall be set parallel to, or inclined inward toward, the median vertical
longitudinal plane of the dredge.

(1)  All hydraulic or mechanical clam dredges operating under the
provisions of this section shall have properly installed mufflers on all
engines used in the operation of said boat or hydraulic or mechanical
clam dredge. The Commission of Tidewater Fisheries may require
such modifications to the hydraulic or mechanical clam dredge and/or
licensed dredge boats as may be demonstrated to be in the public
interest through research in the Department of Research and Edu-
cation and recommended for adoption by the latter agency.

(2)  Any person violating any provision of this sub-title shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall
be fined not less than ten dollars ($10.00) nor more than twenty-five
dollars ($25.00).

(f) Display of License.The captain, master or operator of any
licensed or mechanical dredge boat or rig for the taking of soft shell
clams shall always have such license on board his boat while the same
is in operation and shall exhibit the same whenever it shall be re-
quested by any duly authorized officer or employee of the Commission
of Tidewater Fisheries.

(g) Minimum Size of Soft Shell Clams.It shall be unlawful for any
person to have in his possession soft shell clams which contain more
than five percent (5%) per bushel of such clams measuring less than
two and one-quarter (2-1/4) inches along the longest dimension across
the shell.

(h) Time for Taking and Landing.It shall be unlawful for any
person to take or catch, or attempt to take or catch, soft shell clams
on Sunday, or between sunset and sunrise on any other day, or to
land soft shell clams earlier than one hour before sunrise or later
than one hour after sunset.

(i) Prohibited Areas.It shall be unlawful to take or catch, or
attempt to take or catch, soft shell clams with any hydraulic or
mechanical dredge, or with any other type of gear, as follows:

(1)  Within fifty (50) yards of any commercially productive oyster
area,, unless herein especially waived or modified
;

(2)  Within five hundred (500) yards of any occupied duck blind
where decoys are set out, during the legal waterfowl hunting season;

(3)  Within fifty (50) feet of any bulkhead, wharf, pier structure
or appurtenance constructed or erected in, out in, over or under any
of the waters of Queen Anne's County, or the waters of the Chesapeake
Bay adjacent thereto, whenever said bulkhead, wharf, pier or struc-
ture has been erected or built by virtue of a properly authorized
permit issued by the Corps of Engineers, Department of the Army;

(4) Within one thousand (1,000) feet of any public bathing beach
during the months of May, June, July. August and September of any
year;

(5) Within one hundred (100) yards of any private bathing beach
between May first and September thirtieth of any year; provided
