PURCHASED SUCH CLAMS FROM A LICENSED SOFT SHELL
CLAM DEALER, WHETHER OR NOT SAID CLAMS ARE PUR-
CHASED FOR SALE, RETAIL OR WHOLESALE.

Any person violating any provisions of this subsection shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof be
fined not less than two hundred dollars ($200.00) nor more than
one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), nor more than six months in jail
and confiscation of both rig and boat. All violations of this sub-
section shall be tried in the Circuit Court of Anne Arundel County.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 693
(House Bill 731)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 212 (c)
of Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "State Roads", sub-title "Convict Labor", to broaden the use
of convict labor in agricultural work and matters generally related
thereto.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
that Section 212 (c) of Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "State Roads", sub-title "Convict Labor",
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

212.

(c). Provided, however, that the Board of Correction shall make
arrangements for the employment of any prisoners at any camp or
camps in Queen Anne's County and in any other county or counties
in which similar prisons or camps are now or may hereafter be
established, OR IN ANY COUNTY WITHIN A REASONABLE
DISTANCE, TO BE DETERMINED BY THE BOARD OF COR-
RECTION, FROM ANY SUCH PRISONS OR CAMPS, [in
the harvesting and gathering of any agricultural crops in any
county of this State between August 1, and December 31st each
year,] in any agricultural work during any part of the year,
except, however, any such prisoners being utilized or needed by
the State Roads Commission for emergency road maintenance work
in any county of this State. Persons who employ such prisoners
from the Board of Correction shall be required to pay the reasonable
value of such labor at the estimated prevailing wage scale for such
work in the community where the prisoners are so employed and
