CHAP. 70.

Penalty for injur-
ing bridge

certain, and which they may change and alter at their discretion;
and such tolls shall be applied by the levy court of said county,
who shall annually receive an account from the person so appointed
of the tolls received, to the use of the said county.
7. And be it enacted, That if any person or persona shall wilfully
and feloniously set fire to or burn any part of said bridge, he, she
or they, as the case may be, shall be deemed and taken to be guil-
ty of arson, and upon being thereof convict, shall suffer such
punishment as is or may be provided by law for persons guilty of
arson.

CHAP. LXXI.

An Act to authorise John Stevens, the Elder, late Collector of Talbot County, to
complete his Collection.

1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That John
Stevens the elder, late collector of Talbot county, be and he is
hereby authorised and empowered to collect until the first day of
May eighteen hundred and twenty-one, all balances due him as col-
lector of Talbot county for the year eighteen hundred and eighteen,
in the same mariner as he could have done within the time limited
by law, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.
2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the said John
Stevens, the elder, before he proceeds to execute the property of
any person or persons for any balances due him as collector as
aforesaid, in virtue of this act, to deliver to such person or persons
chargeable with the same, at least thirty days previous to levying
such execution, an account, written in words at full length, of the
balance or balances demanded of him, her or them, with an affidavit
annexed, that he hath not received any part thereof, or any thing
in security or satisfaction of the same, more than (if any) credit
given; Provided always, that the said John Stevens, the elder, be-
fore he derives any benefit from or under this act, shall lodge his
collection books in the clerk's office of Talbot county, to be open for
the inspection of all persons interested.

CHAP. LXXII.

An Act to authorise Matthew Murray, late Sheriff anil Collector of Baltimore
County, to complete his Collections.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Mat-
thew Murray, late sheriff and collector of Baltimore county, be and
he is hereby authorised and empowered, to collect until the first day
of January eighteen hundred and twenty-one, all balances due him
as sheriff and collector of Baltimore county, in the same manner
as he could or might have done within the time limited by law, any
law to the contrary notwithstanding.
2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the said Mat-
thew Murray, before he proceeds to execute the property of any
person or persons for public dues or fees in virtue of this act, to
deliver to such person or persons chargeable with the same, at least
thirty days previous to levying such execution, an account, written
in words at full length, of the public fees and dues demanded of him,
her or them, with an affidavit annexed, that he nor no person for
his use, hath received any part thereof, nor any thing as security
or satisfaction for the same, more than credit given, (if any) to the
best of his knowledge and belief.
