5, And be it enacted, That the said lottery or lotteries, shall
and may be drawn under the direction and superintendence of the
commissioners of lotteries, and that the purchaser or purchasers

of the said scheme or schemes, before he or they proceed to draw
the said lottery or lotteries, shall pay to the treasurer of the wes-
tern shore, the sum of one thousand dollars, to be applied towards
the payment of the salaries of the said commissioners of lotteries;

Provided, That if the said lottery commissioners shall not be con-
tinued at the time of the drawing of the said lottery or lotteries,
that then the sum of one thousand dollars, above directed to be
paid, shall and may be retained by the purchaser or purchasers of
said scheme or schemes.

CHAPTER 47.

An act to alter a certain Road in Harford county.
Whereas, It is represented to this general assembly, by the
petition of sundry inhabitants of Harford County, that a bridge has
been lately built across the River Susquehannah, a short distance be-
low the Baldfriar Ferry, on said river, by which means the said
ferry is entirely out of use, and the road leading thereto from the
village of Dublin, and that a new road from said village to the
bridge has been opened at the expense of private individuals, and
prays that the said old road be vacated, and the new road aforesaid
made and deemed a public high-way, and the same appearing rea-
sonable—Therefore,

Preamble.

SEC.1. Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the aforesaid old road leading from the village of Dublin, in
Harford county, to the Baldfriar Ferry, be, and the same is hereby
declared to be vacated, and that the new road leading from Dublin,
to the Susquehannah Bridge, at the Connowingo Falls, be, and the
same is hereby declared to be a public high-way, and that the same
shall hereafter be kept in repair as other public roads in said coun-
ty are kept in repair.

2. And be it enacted, That the present supervisor appointed
by the levy court of Harford county, to superintend or keep in re-
pair the aforesaid old road, be, and the same is hereby appointed to
superintend the aforesaid new road, until a new appointment shall
be made by the said levy court, and that all such monies as may be
in his hands unexpended (if any) be laid out on the new road.

Repairs.

3. And be it enacted, That it shall and may be lawful for the
said supervisor, to make any alteration that he may think necessary
in the location of the said new road; Provided, The same be done
with the consent of the landholders, and at the proper cost and ex-
pense of private individuals that may volunteer to do the same.

CHAPTER 48.

An act for the benefit of John Jamison, Executor of Leonard Ja-
mison.
Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland, That
John Jamison, be, and he is hereby authorised to bring from the
state of Virginia, into this state, the following negroes, to wit:
Abraham, about fifty years of age; Cecily, (his wife) about fifty years
old; Agnes, about three years old; Kitty, about twelve years of age;
Peggy, about ten years old, and Henry, for the benefit of his ward
