To the Clerk of the Court of Appeals:
I, JOHN R. REEVES, SECRETARY OF STATE OF THE STATE OF MARY-
LAND, pursuant to the direction contained in Section 210 of Article 33
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition) DO HEREBY CER-
TIFY,That at an election held in the Town of Westernport,
Allegany County, Maryland, on June 14, 1955, an Act known as
Chapter 170 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1955, was sub-
mitted to the voters of the Town of Westernport, Allegany County,
Maryland, for their adoption or rejections under the provisions of
Chapter 170 of the Acts of 1955, said Act being:
"An Act to amend Section 645 of Article 1 of the Code of Public
Local Laws as said section was enacted by Chapter 8 of 1953,
regulating the maximum tax rate which may be imposed on
property by the municipal corporation of Westernport."
and I do certify, that at said election 145 votes were cast in favor
of the provisions of said Act and 150 votes were cast against the
adoption of Chapter 170 of the Acts of 1955, and a majority of the
votes being cast in opposition to the Act, the said Act has, therefore,
failed of ratification.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto subscribed my
