rissa Smith.

county be, and they are hereby directed and empow-
ered, at their levy court annually, to assess and levy
on the assessable property of said county, a sum of
money not exceeding thirty dollars, for the support,
and maintenance of the said Clarissa Smith, and that the

same be collected annually, by the collector or collec-
tors of Anne-Arundel county, and paid to the said;

Clarissa Smith, or to her order.

CHAPTER 17.

Passed Dec. 27,
1811.

An act to make valid the Will of William Baird

late of Washington county, deceased.

Will shall be
effectual under
certain provi-
sions.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the last will and testament of Wil-
liam Baird, late of Washington county, deceased, shall
be as effectual to all intents and purposes, to pass lots
number eighty-six and eighty-seven in Hager's-town,
to the devisees therein mentioned, as if said will was
in form strictly pursuant to the law of this state:
Provided nevertheless, That this act shall not be con-
strued to give the said devisees any other or greater
estate than they would have been entitled to, if the
said will had been originally valid: And provided also,
That nothing in this act contained, shall in any man-
ner defeat or affect any legal right or claim to the said
property, or any part thereof, acquired or prosecuted
by any person or persons before the passing of this
act.

 

CHAPTER 18.

Passed Dec. 27,
1811.

An additional supplement to an act entitled, "An
act to establish a Market, and to build a Mar-
ket-house in the Western Precincts of Baltimore,
and for the regu/ation of the same. "

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for the
commissioners of the said market house, to lease or
rent out, from time to time, for any period not exceed-
ing twelve months, the benches or stalls under the
sheds, and without the shambles of said market, for
such sum or compensation as they may think proper
to contract for, and the person or persons renting or
