CHAPTER 137.

CHAP. 138.

A supplement to the several acts Incorporating the Town of
Hagerstown, in Washington County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act, the
voters of Hagerstown shall elect one moderator for said
town, annually, by general ticket, and that each ward of
said town shall elect one commissioner annually.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That no voter shall be al-
lowed to vote in any other ward than the one in which he re-
sides, nor for any individual other than one residing in said

missioner for any ward unless he shall have been resident
therein for six months next before the election.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the manner of con-
ducting all elections under this act, shall be prescribed
and regulated by the commissioners who shall be in office
next before the election for moderator and commissioners
as aforesaid; provided, that polls shall be opened in each
ward of said town, at said election.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That all acts of Assembly
relating to said town are continued in full force, except
such as are inconsistent with the provisions of this act.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the moderator of said
town, who shall have been elected as aforesaid, shall pre-
side at the meetings of said commissioners, and shall on-
ly have a casting vote in case of a tie.

CHAPTER 138.

Duty of mode-

rator.

An act to grant to Joseph Graham, former Sheriff of Tal-
bot County, farther time to complete his collections.

Passed Jan. 21,
1840.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the time limited by law within which Joseph Gra-
ham, former sheriff of Talbot county, shall have made his
collections, be and the same is hereby extended to the first
day of December in the year eighteen hundred and forty-
one.
