CHAP. 190.

lots of the following named persons: Richard Fowler,
Jacob Reese, Emanuel Girnand, Susan Mittin, Dulu-

nia Crist, until it again unites with the said road.

Plat to be returned.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said commission-
ers shall make out a plot of the said alteration, which
shall be recorded in the office of the clerk of Carroll
county.

Compensation.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said commis-
sioners shall be paid for opening said road, in a passa-
ble manner, by John McKollom.

CHAPTER 189.

Passed Mar. 15,
1839.

An act to divorce John Piercy, of the City of Baltimore,
from his wife, Mary Piercy.

Divorce.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That John Piercy, of the City of Baltimore, be and
he is hereby divorced from his wife, Mary Piercy, a
vinculo matrimonii.

CHAPTER 190.

Passed Mar. 14,
1839.

An act, entitled, an act releasing the interest of the
State to the lands which may have escheated to the
State, by the death of the Reverend Timothy Ryan,
a clergyman of the Roman Catholic Church, late of
Washington County.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it appears by the petition of Dennis
Galvin, that he has laid an escheat warrant upon
certain lots in Hagerstown, in Washington county, of
which a certain Timothy Ryan died seized and intes-
tate, without heirs capable of inheriting the same; and
whereas, it appears that it was the intention of the said
intestate to appropriate the said lots for the endow-
ment of a seminary to be connected with the Roman
Catholic Church, and that it is the intention of the

petitioner to carry out the benevolent and praiseworthy

intentions of the said intestate, and that he is desirous
to vest the said land in trustees for that purpose, and
prays the State to relinquish its interest in the said
