CHAPTER 86.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments, Section
318 of Melvin's Code of Public Local Laws for Anne
Arundel County, title "Roads, " sub-title "County Road
Engineer, " relating to salary, appointment, removal and
qualifications of said County Road Engineer.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 318 of Melvin's Code of the Public
Local Laws for Anne Arundel County, title "Roads, " sub-title
"County Road Engineer, " be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted with amendments, so as to read as follows:
Section 318. The County Commissioners shall, within
thirty days after the passage of this Act, appoint some com-
petent person as County Road Engineer of Anne Arundel
County, who shall hold office from the date of his appointment
or until removed by the County Commissioners of Anne Arun-
del County, and who shall receive a salary not to exceed
thirty-six hundred dollars ($3600. ) per year, payable monthly,
and an allowance for travelling expenses not to exceed five
hundred dollars ($500. ). He shall be a graduate civil engineer,
with a degree from an institution of recognized standing; and
the County Commissioners shall make such appointment with-
out reference to the political opinions of the person so ap-
pointed.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all Acts or parts
of Acts inconsistent with the aforegoing provisions, or any of
them, and particularly Chapter 524 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland of 1922 and also of the Acts of 1924,
Chapter 67 be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent
of any such inconsistency.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the first day of June, nineteen hundred and
twenty-seven (1927).
