Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners of the
school fund for Queen-Anne's county, be and they are here-
by authorised and required, to apply the interest of the sums
invested by them in bank stock, and the funds which they
may hereafter receive from' the treasurer of the xvestern
shore, to the education of the poor children in said county,
according to the provisions of the act passed December ses-
sion eighteen hundred and sixteen, chapter two hundred and
fifty-six, establishing free schools, provided that the said
commissioners shall distribute the same in equal portions
among the different primary school districts in said county.

CHAP. 35.
Interest on sums

Sec. 3. And be it enacted. That the said commissioners
be and they are hereby directed to pay over to the commis-
sioners of primary schools for Queen-Anne's county, the
sums which may be apportioned among the districts in which
primary schools are now established, and in like manner to
pay over to said commissioners the sums hereafter to be dis-
tributed in any other district of said county, whenever a
primary school shall be established in the same, to be appli-
ed to the use and support of said primary schools, as direct-
ed by the act passed December session eighteen hundred and
twenty-five, chapter one hundred and sixty-two, providing
for the instruction of youth in primary schools.

Sec 4. And be it enacted, That if from the want of
schools, or a sufficient number of scholars in any of the said
primary school districts, any part of the sums annually re-
ceived from the treasurer of the western shore, or of the
annual interest of the sums invested by the commissioners
of the school fund for Queen-Anne's county, should remain
unexpended, the said commissioners shall invest the same in
some productive fund, and apply the interest of the same, as
herein before directed, to the support of free schools and
primary schools in said county.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners
be and they are hereby authorised, to retain the manage-
ment, and to receive the interest of the sums invested by

western shore such sum or sums as they were entitled to re-
ceive according to the provisions of the act passed Decem-
ber session eighteen hundred and sixteen, chapter two hun-
dred and fifty-six, establishing free schools, any act or acts
of assembly to the contrary notwithstanding.

CHAP. XXXVI.

An Act to authorise the Levy Court of Somerset Coun-
ty to alter a Ferry in said County.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That the levy coart of Somerset county be and
