(g) The Chief of the Fire Department shall be charged
with the duty of superintending and directing the extinguish-
ment of fires, and preservation and safe-keeping of all fire
engines, hose and other apparatus used in connection there-
with.; and it is hereby made his duty to keep away from the
vicinity of any fire all idle and suspicious and disorderly per-
sons, and to compel all officers of the city and all other persons
to aid in 'the extinguishment of fire and the preservation of
property exposed to danger thereafter and in preventing goods
from being stolen and generally to carry out and enforce such
regulations for the prevention and extinguishment of fire as
may be by said Mayor and City Council deemed expedient.
SEC, 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the first day of June, 1916.

AN ACT to repeal Article 13 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, title "Harford County, " and the several Acts
and parts of Acts amendatory thereof, or inconsistent there-
with, and to re-enact said Article 13 with amendments under
appropriate sub-titles; providing for the effect this Act shall
have upon Acts of the General Assembly passed at its ses-
sion of 1916 in reference to Harford County, and providing
for the payment by the County Commissioners of Harford
County of a sum of money for the codifying of the Local
Laws of Harford County and the preparation of this Bill.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Article 13 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, title "Harford County, " and the several Acts and
parts of Acts amendatory thereof, or inconsistent therewith,
be and the same are hereby repealed, and the said Article 13
is hereby re-enacted with amendments under the appropriate
sub-titles hereinafter contained, so as to read as follows:
