1074 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

SEC. 3. Be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect from
the date of its passage.

Approved April 5, 1910.

CHAPTER 200.

AN ACT to require the Washington, Potomac and Chesapeake
Railroad Company to operate two trains daily, Sundays ex-
cepted, each way over its tracks from Mechanicsville, in St.
Mary's County, to Brandywine, in Prince George's County,
Maryland, and limiting the charges to be made for hauling
freight over said railroad.

Whereas, the Washington Potomac and Chesapeake Rail-
road Company, a body corporate, duly incorporated under the
laws of the State of Maryland, and operating a single track
railroad from Mechanicsville, in St. Mary's County, to Brandy-
wine, in Prince George's County, and all within the State of
Maryland, now operates only one train daily each way over
said road, thus making it necessary for many of its traveling
patrons to spend the greater part of three days in going to and
returning from the cities of Washington and Baltimore; and,

Whereas, the freight charges for .freight hauled over said
railroad are so enormous that they are practically prohibitive,
of the shipment of certain articles of merchandise; therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the said Washington, Potomac and Chesapeake
Railroad Company, a body corporate, be and it is hereby re-
quired to operate two accommodation trains daily each way
(Sundays excepted) over its railroad tracks from Mechanics-
ville, in St. Mary's County, to Brandywine, in Prince George's
County, the first train to leave Mechanicsville, in St. Mary's
County, each morning for Brandywine, so as to connect with
trains of the Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington Rail-
road Company, going north and south, and thence leaving
said Brandywine station for Mechanicsville not later than
9.30. A. M., and then to leave Mechanicsville not later than
12.30 P. M., so as to reach Brandywine Station in time to
connect with the trains of Philadelphia, Baltimore and Wash-
ington Railroad Company in the afternoon going north and
south, and thence returning to Mechanicsville not later than,
8 P. M. each day, and this Act shall apply to and be in full
force as against any other railroad company, by whatsoever
name it may operate under or be called or known which may
acquire, purchase or lease or operate the said track and rolling
stock of the said Washington, Potomac and Chesapeake Rail-
